SuperCasino was a gambling television channel which aired on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom from 2009 to 2018, amid controversy over potentially harmful consequences.

Origin[edit]

SuperCasino launched in April 2005 as Vegas 24/7 and was owned by Hi2 Limited[1] directed by David Wainwright. His forte was in low-brow and interactive television, with sister network Friendly TV being one example. Wainwright continued his interest in online gambling, developing Hollywood TV, which operates under a generic Curaçaoan gambling licence from Malta.

Subsequent ownership[edit]

The channel was later owned by Betson AB. Unlike Hollywood TV, Supercasino is regulated in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission.

Broadcasts[edit]

SuperCasino broadcast every night of the week on Channel 5. Its presentation was based on the game of roulette, in two variations, Live Roulette and Roulette Express. Live presenter-led programming was broadcast from 18:00 to 04:00 daily, supplemented by automated roulette from 04:00 to 18:00 on the Sky channel. Viewers could register and play along via their telephone, on the website or through their smartphone.[2]

Super Casino was removed from Freeview channel 39 on 20 October 2009 and Freesat channel 851 on 28 July 2010. However, it was shown overnight on Channel 5 between 00:00 and 03:10 (from 01:00 on weekdays) until 1 January 2019,[3] when it was replaced by Teleshopping. It was broadcast live from studios in London, with additional broadcast facilities in Guernsey, CI. It was removed from Sky channel 862 on 2 March 2016.

SuperCasino was the first casino operator to have a live TV roulette channel in the UK[4] and used accredited roulette wheels in line with its e-gambling license.

SuperCasino was not available to those who live in Northern Ireland but unlike Jackpot247, it was available to those living on the Channel Islands.

Live Roulette[edit]

Live Roulette is the name given to the presenter-led roulette offering. Every few minutes a roulette round is played, and viewers/players can watch the croupier spin the ball around the roulette wheel. As soon as the ball is in motion the table is closed for betting.

Roulette Express Premium[edit]

During the hours of 4am-6pm when presenter/spinner led Live Roulette is not broadcast, there is a simpler Autowheel game, named Roulette Express Premium.[5] An automated roulette wheel using jets of compressed air to move the ball automatically is used as the main gaming device, and each roulette round is shorter in duration than the presenter-led show.

Roulette is a popular casino game throughout the world. And now it's available on your computer, phone, and tablet for free from 24/7 Games! This HTML5 roulette game is playable from the browser of all of your devices - no app or flash download required! The future of gaming is here with 24/7 Roulette.

Roulette

To play roulette, select your chip amount in the bottom left corner. Place your bets on any of the squares on the roulette board in an attempt to guess which number will come up after the wheel spin. For the numbers, you may place bets on one space alone, in between two spaces, or in the corner of four spaces. Once all your bets are placed, click the Spin button for the ball to drop into the wheel which will begin spinning. Watch the ball as it settles into a slot, which determines which number is the winner. Winnings are doled out, losing bets are cleared away, and the process starts again!

Winning Roulette Payouts are as follows: 35 to 1 for a bet on a single number; 17 to 1 for a double number bet; a three number bet pays 11 to 1; A corner four number bet pays 8 to 1; A six number bet pays 5 to 1; a column bet pays 2 to 1; And a bet on the even outside bets pays 1 to 1.
